MELANIN: ORIGINS BOOK

Origins is a digital experience that tells the story of three nations and the change of ballance in their world. The story is told through the eyes of three kids representing each nation, whose unfortunate fate brings them together.

ORIGINS is the first book of our story-telling clothing brand @melaninthestory.

The book design is a scrolling experience that makes use of having a digital medium. Chapters blend from one to another through visual cues that help the story flow.

Each of the chapters in the content section is a clickable link that takes you to the given page.

The three dots on top of each page represent each of the three nations. Whenever a nation is present in a chapter, a dot is filled, signifying its presence.

The grundge on the side of each page is something I added to make the design fit better with the illustrations. I grabbed a portion of the texture he used, vectorized it and turned it into a brush.

MELANIN: WASTELAND LETTER

COLLECTION LETTER

Wasteland is the third Melanin collection that brings a drastic change in its world. The events taking place in the story of this collection are set after ORIGINS.

Melanin clothes come with a letter addressed to you.

The letter is part of the branding of the collection. I had to come up with elements that represent the major changes taking place in the storyline. These ornaments are the visual language of the new nation that appears in this chapter.

The ornaments are a chaotic version of the visual language of the pre-cataclysm ancestors of the Wasteland savages.

The inside of the letter holds a piece of the story and a message to the client. Their name is written by hand in the box near the bottom.

This is the logo of the collection. It is chaotic, much like the Wastelanders. I made use of negative space creating the two faces of the main characters in the storyline. The story itself revolves around Nareeh who’s facing Wastelands finest warrior. The destiny of their world lies on the shoulders of the winner of this battle. Whoever wins has to face whatever is in the cave.

Imm Thai Kitchen is a Toronto based restaurant that offers high quality Thailand food.

The restaurant also has a bar area where liqour is served.

I was asked to design a menu for their bar. They wanted it to be simple and modern, with no images. They had no color requirements so I used the color of their logo + black.

Bar Crystal is a lively bar in the center of Sofia, Bulgaria. 

The photo used in design is from the bar.

This design is a play on the glass element from their logo.

Savage Athlete is an apparell brand that creates a community of people passionate about extreme sports. 

All of their t-shirts will have a neck tag screen printed on the inside.

Savage Athlete came to me with no concrete requirements. I already knew it needed to be something clean and straight to the point.

CARL: CV

During quarantine Carl was applying to a number of different companies. On one hand were the serious, more traditional corporations, with years of history behind their backs. On the other had were companies with a playful tone and an out of the box way of doing business.
He wanted a creative resume that targets those unorthodox companies.
I took the information from his ordinary CV and came up with ways of representing it visually.

The standard for CV around the world is quite different. For example, its not a good practice to include a photo of yourself in your CV when applying for jobs in the USA. This is done in order to eliminate any discrimination. By creating an avatar for Carl I tried to go around this problem and make this resume something he could use anywhere around the world.

I graduated the American University in Bulgaria in May 2020. Our university gathers the CV’s of all of its graduates and adds it to a catalogue that employers can look through. I found out about this exactly 3 hours before the submission deadline. This is the result of my 3 hour work.

I wanted something simple and straight to the point.
Obviously I have a thing for black and white and geometric shapes. Working on personal project allowes me to work with whatever aesthetic choices come to my mind. There are no branding rules, audiences, competitors, it’s all creative freedom.

MORE HONORS 23: POSTERS

More Honors is a club in the American University in Bulgaria that gives awards to those in the community with peculiar personalities. Each year they organise a show that includes a video and a sketch for each of the 10 categories.
I had the honor of creating a poster for 4 of the categories.
You can think of each category as a personality type or even a stereotype. Students from the whole university get to vote for a person who they think fits a given category. The posters needs to be able to visually inform the community what a given category is about.

Here's "Lick-a-Fessor"

Lick-A-Fessor is a category for all those students that seem way too close to the professor. They laugh at all of their jokes (good or bad) and can’t take their hand down during class.

Here's "Village"

Village is a category for those that carry the village in their hearts and it shows. It is NOT for people from villages. Theres nothing wrong with being from a village. The problem is being a village yourself.

Here's "Artcore"

Artcore people are those who keep can’t seem to shut off their creativity. Whatever they make you just can’t stop looking at, whether thats a photo, piece music or an illustration.

.... and last but not least is "Coolest Non-Student"

Coolest Non-Student is a category thats not for students, obviously. It’s for all of those people that make the life of students a little better. It could be a professor, the janitor or even the homeless dog that is always around campus.
